Community Partnerships

The Little Mountain School is strengthened by a network of people who care deeply about the children and families of Joya Honda. Our work is possible because the school exists within a connected, engaged, and vibrant community.

Local collaborators contribute their expertise, cultural knowledge, and steady presence. Many of our teachers and staff come from nearby villages and understand the hopes, traditions, and challenges of the families we serve. Others in the community share their skills by supporting school activities, caring for the grounds, and lending their time to special projects. Their involvement ensures that the school reflects the identity and values of the region.

Families are active partners in their children’s education. They attend meetings, participate in school events, and stay closely involved with teachers. Their engagement strengthens learning at home and builds a sense of shared purpose. When families and educators communicate openly and support one another, children feel more confident, secure, and motivated.

Beyond the immediate community, the school is supported by a wider circle that includes local volunteers, regional collaborators, and donors through Guatemalan Educational Outreach (GEO). This broader ecosystem provides essential resources that help maintain classrooms, fund teacher salaries, provide daily meals, and expand programs as the school grows. These partnerships create stability and allow the school to respond to new opportunities and challenges with strength and flexibility.

Together, this interconnected community forms the foundation of The Little Mountain School. The collaboration between families, local leaders, educators, and supporters makes it possible for children to learn and thrive in an environment built on trust, respect, and shared commitment.
