2025 Impact Report: What Your Generosity Made Possible

Guatemalan Educational Outreach is grateful to share the 2025 Impact Report—a reflection of what has been made possible at The Little Mountain School through the generosity of a committed community of supporters.

This past year was one of remarkable growth, stability, and transformation for the children and families served in Joya Honda, Guatemala.

📚 207 students received a full education
🍽 85,470 nutritious meals were served
👩‍🏫 14 teachers, 4 staff, and 6 volunteers faithfully served
🎓 9 grades operated — Pre-School through 7th
📖 Students studied Mathematics, Language, Science, Arts, Emotional Intelligence, English, Civic Education, and Computer Studies
99% student retention rate

Since 2018, enrollment has grown from just 22 students to 207 in 2025—and now 250 students in 2026.

A Different Story in Guatemala

In Guatemala, the path to graduation becomes increasingly fragile as students grow older.

While nearly 90% of children complete primary school:

  • Only 65.7% complete lower secondary
  • Just 47% complete upper secondary

By the high school years, more than half of students are no longer in school. Poverty, limited school capacity, and lack of access to continued education force many children to leave—closing the door to future opportunity.

But at The Little Mountain School, the story is different.

Students are staying.
They are thriving.
They are dreaming.

With a 99% retention rate, the school is creating a rare and powerful environment where children are supported to continue their education and build a future filled with possibility.

Throughout 2025, students experienced moments that enriched both learning and community:

  • Celebrating their first-ever Pizza Party Day
  • Exploring future careers through visits from community professionals
  • Learning through play with newly donated educational toys
  • Preparing a heartfelt surprise to thank their supporters

These moments remind students that they are seen, valued, and supported.

Behind every number is a story—of a child learning, growing, and being given the opportunity to continue their education.

Growing Impact in 2026

Because of the foundation built in 2025, The Little Mountain School now serves 250 students in rural Guatemala.

Each child receives:

  • A quality education
  • Daily nutritious meals
  • Consistent care and support

All of this is provided at no cost to families.

The Cost of Opportunity

Providing this level of care requires thoughtful stewardship and continued support.

The average cost to educate one student in 2026 is $1,440 per year, covering:

  • 78% — Teachers and staff salaries
  • 16% — Daily nutritious meals
  • 4% — Teaching supplies and essentials

As the school grows, so does the need.

In 2026 alone, costs have increased by 43%, reflecting the expansion of services and the commitment to maintaining quality education for every student.

The Need Ahead

To fully sustain the school and GEO’s operations in 2026, $363,000 must be raised.

This funding ensures that:

  • Every child has a teacher
  • Every student receives daily meals
  • Every classroom is equipped
  • Every child can remain in school

These children are counting on this support—not only for education, but for stability, opportunity, and hope.

Make an Impact Today

Your generosity directly sustains the lives of these students:
