Every morning in the mountains of Guatemala, nearly 250 children walk through the doors of The Little Mountain School carrying dreams that are far bigger than the challenges they face.
For many students, school is more than a place to learn. It is where they receive nutritious meals, discover their talents, build confidence, and begin to imagine a future filled with possibility.
What began with just 22 students has grown into a thriving educational community serving nearly 250 children from preschool through eighth grade. Thanks to the generosity of faithful supporters, students receive a quality education while developing the skills they need to build brighter futures.
At The Little Mountain School, students study mathematics, science, technology, English, emotional intelligence, and leadership. These lessons do more than prepare children for exams—they help break the cycle of poverty and create opportunities that can transform families and communities for generations.
A Growing School with Growing Needs
As enrollment continues to increase, so do the costs of providing quality education, daily meals, and a safe learning environment.
In 2026, the school’s operating budget increased by 43%, bringing the annual fundraising goal to $360,000. Every dollar raised directly supports the students of Joya Honda and helps ensure that no child is denied access to education because of financial circumstances.
Current needs include:

Join The Mountain Circle
One of the most impactful ways to support the school is through The Mountain Circle, our monthly giving community.
Monthly gifts provide dependable funding that helps sustain the school’s operations throughout the year. These recurring contributions allow us to plan ahead and meet the daily needs of students and teachers.
Monthly giving levels include:
- $25/month — Teaching supplies for five students for an entire school year
- $50/month — Two nutritious meals each school day for three students
- $120/month — A student’s complete educational experience for one year
- $240/month — Full support for two students for an entire year
Members receive regular updates, photos, stories, and classroom news that demonstrate the impact of their generosity.
