At The Little Mountain School, a new chapter has begun—one filled with stories, imagination, and opportunity.
In July 2024, teachers identified a critical need: a dedicated school library. What followed was a beautiful example of collaboration, generosity, and vision coming together.
By September 2024, an application was submitted to the International Book Project (IBP) in Lexington, Kentucky. Soon after, a remarkable gift arrived—approximately 1,100 English-language books for students in grades 1–12, shipped free of charge to Guatemala.
But building a library is about more than books—it’s about creating a space where students can grow.
A classroom was identified and renovated in early 2025 to prepare for the library’s arrival. Shelves were installed, books carefully placed, and even a welcoming reading nook was created—transforming the space into a place of joy and discovery.
The next phase focused on something equally important: nurturing a love for reading in students’ native language. Teachers carefully selected Spanish-language books, and through donor support, these were purchased locally and added to the growing collection. Additional shelving ensured that the library can continue to expand in the years ahead.
Today, the Little Mountain School library stands as a testament to what is possible when a community comes together.
It is a place where:
- Students encounter new ideas
- Language skills are strengthened
- Confidence is built
- And a lifelong love of learning begins
This library is not just a project completed—it is a foundation for the future.
And it was made possible because of you.
Help us continue to grow opportunities like this. Make a gift today and be part of the next chapter at The Little Mountain School.
