One of the most exciting areas of growth this year has been our English program.
Through interactive lessons, songs, conversations, games, and classroom activities, students are building confidence in speaking and understanding English as a second language. What may seem like a simple classroom exercise today could become a life-changing opportunity tomorrow.
For many of our students, learning English represents an opportunity that previous generations in their families never had. In today’s increasingly connected world, English proficiency can open doors to higher education, professional careers, tourism-related employment, technology fields, and meaningful relationships that extend beyond their local communities.
While our students remain deeply rooted in their Guatemalan culture and heritage, they are also gaining tools that will help them navigate a world filled with new possibilities.
Perhaps the most inspiring part of the program is witnessing the growth in students’ confidence. Children who were once hesitant to participate now eagerly raise their hands, practice new vocabulary with classmates, and proudly demonstrate what they have learned.

Today, The Little Mountain School serves nearly 250 students, and the need continues to grow. As enrollment increases, our operating costs have risen by 43% as we work to ensure every child receives the education, nourishment, and support they deserve.
So far, we have raised 26% of our $360,000 goal for 2026.
